Muscat - The Omani Foreign Minister Badr posted on social media on May 1st, stating that "due to logistical reasons", the fourth round of indirect talks between the US and Iran, originally scheduled for May 3rd, will be postponed. The new negotiation date will be announced later after reaching a consensus among all parties.

On the same day, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Baghaei issued a statement saying that the new round of indirect talks between Iran and the US was "postponed at the request of the Omani Foreign Minister". Baghaei also said that Iran remains committed to reaching a "fair and lasting agreement".

The US and Iran held their first round of indirect talks in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on April 12th. This was the first formal negotiation between the two sides since the US unilaterally withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal in May 2018. Subsequently, the two sides held the second round of indirect talks in Rome, the capital of Italy, on April 19th, and the third round in Muscat on April 26th.

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said on April 30th that Iran and the US were to hold the fourth round of indirect talks in Rome on May 3rd.
